After having it for two good years, I sold my Canon Rebel XT and bought a used Canon 40d. Can't wait till it comes in!

Contact Sheet 1

Earlier on in the summer JJ and I passed my camera back and forth and looked for the light around his place. It was a great exercise in getting use to hand holding this huge Pentax, metering and shooting on the spot. I always love chatting about photography with JJ, he's a fountain of inspiration! These are just two images right from the scanned contact sheets.

The Divine Genius That is Assigned to Your Case...

This is a talk given by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the sucessful book Eat, Pray, Love. I just stumbled upon it from another blog and I thought I'd share it with you. I'm already familiar with the idea of the individual creative practice and I'm thinking about what that means exactly for me and my work. But this video got me thinking about the whole idea from a totally different perspective. I found myself relating to a lot of what she had to say and I learned that it is just as important to be able to deal with what your work can achieve as well.

Last Night's Art Show and Tell

So last night a bunch of us MMW staff got together and we showed our own individual work to one another over beer and snacks. It was really nice to finally be able to see what we all do, photo and film wise. I feel like our individual portfolios were a vital part of our interviewing process to get the jobs we have now, but now that we're here, we're just working. That isn't bad at all, it's just that we're doing our different jobs without seeing or hearing about our own individual work that we're doing. So needless to say, last night was very refreshing and inspiring. We're all doing vastly different and interesting projects! It was very nice to be able to talk about my work again, and also to a group of people who aren't already familiar with my work and who aren't in a critique class back at school. The whole night flowed very well. A lot of the talks and feed back was very helpful and simulating. So now when I'm walking around on the campus and I see my fellow work colleagues I feel like I have a better sense of what they're all about as individual artists. It's great.
